At the heart of the iconic Souq Waqif lies Al Baraha Restaurant in Al Najada Hotel, and one sunny yet cool afternoon led us to try their Express Business Lunch al fresco style. While Al Baraha boasts a beautiful and spacious indoor seating area, its outdoor space, featuring a combination of Qatar’s enjoyable weather and the stunning backdrop of Souq Waqif, is an experience not to be missed.
The Express Business Lunch, starting at QAR70 for three courses, began with a choice of soups. The Lentil soup was hearty and wholesome, the Cream of Mushroom soup was rich and creamy, and the Tomato soup was vibrant and tangy. You can also opt for a mezze or salad instead of soup.
Moving on to the mains, the Penne Alfredo Pasta was the perfect blend of creamy Alfredo sauce and al dente pasta, the Mixed Grill featured cuts of meat expertly grilled to perfection, while the Chicken Biryani, so fragrant and aromatic, was well-balanced with spices and tender chunks of chicken.
Saving the best for last, the dessert selection was really impressive. The Date Pudding, rich and moist, delivered a sweet essence that paired perfectly with the subtle sweetness of dates. The Crème Brûlée had a crackling caramelised top and velvety custard beneath, and the Umm Ali, a traditional Middle Eastern dessert, was a standout with its layers of pastry, nuts, and sweetened milk, creating a deliciously comforting finale.
True to its “express” promise, the service at Al Baraha was prompt and efficient, ensuring our business lunch concluded in no time. Each course arrived with a timely efficiency that allowed us to enjoy the entire experience without feeling rushed, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a satisfying yet quick lunch.
