Summer is here! And so are the holidays! If you’re going away for the summer with your kids, good for you. However, if you’re spending your summer in Qatar, here are a few fun – and new – places to go to with your kids.

3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum

The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum is the world’s most sophisticated museum dedicated to sport. Enjoy interactive exhibits, inspiring stories and fun activities that celebrate sports culture within Qatar and beyond.

3-2-1 comprises seven gallery spaces – ‘World of Emotion’, A Global History of Sport’, ‘Olympics’, ‘The Hall of Athletes’, ‘Qatar – Hosting Nation’, ‘Qatar Sports’ and the ‘Activation Zone’ – housing objects from around the globe from the beginnings of organised sports to present day. The galleries reveal the cultural impact of sports through multiple perspectives: the history and contemporary significance of the Olympic Games, the inspiring journeys of global sports heroes, and the development of sports in Qatar.

Interactive experiences begin at the Activation Zone promote healthy and active lifestyles. The zone encourages the adoption of healthy and active lifestyles for all with several physical and digital interactive games such as wall climbing, paddling, cycling and more.

Admission: Free admission for Qatar residents (with Qatar ID); free admission for children at the age of 16 and below; QAR50 for non-residents; QAR25 for students (with student IDs).

Desert Falls Water and Adventure Park

One of the largest theme parks in the Middle East, Desert Falls features 18 attractions with 56 rides and slides. Located within Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas, Sea Caves Water Park features 28 slides and rides, including the water park’s signature ride “The King Cobra” and many other attractions including the Kids Ship Pool, the Whizzard Mat Racer, inner tube slides, Surfing Dunes, Family Abyss, Falls Pool and the Wave Pool.

Other adventures at the park include Go-Kart racing, Nimr Laser Tag, and the first manmade canyoning adventure in the Middle East.

Admission: QAR100 or QAR150, depending on height. Children 3 and below enter for free. Water park admission is included in your stay at Hilton Salwa Beach Resort. Pre-booking for water park tickets is a required and this includes visitors of in-house guests. Ride availability is subject to change. Access to the separate adventure attractions at Desert Falls (canyoning, diving, go karting, laser tag) are not included in the general admission ticket which can be purchased separately on site.

Rawdat Al Khail Park

Also known as Al Muntazah Park, Rawdat Al Khail Park is one of the oldest parks in Qatar. It has recently reopened to the public after closing for renovation for a few years. Located along C Ring Road and Rawdat
Al Khail Street, the park has ample green spaces and a number of facilities, featuring an ‘open plan’ – without fences. It is spread over an area of about 140,000 sq m and includes about 105,000 sq m of green spaces with 1,250 new trees including wild ghaf, samar and sidr, and 1,300 m of pedestrian and bicycle paths, in addition to 401 parking spaces. There are children play areas and sports equipments. The park also serves physically challenged individuals. There are also food kiosks and stalls to serve visitors. 

Rush Action Park

Rush Action Park is a new indoor entertainment hub at the Mall of Qatar. Located on the first floor at West Gate 3, Rush Action Park transforms traditional indoor entertainment to create a unique gamified experience including competitive chaser walls, an interactive power climbing tower and an exciting freedom arena to an air mat football field and the Powerplay interactive target system.

Attractions at Rush Action Park incorporate unique interactive targets and a scoreboard system that allows customers to keep track of their score. Try your best moves on the performance trampoline and capture them on the built-in video camera so that you can share them with your friends on social media.

Other attractions include a Zipline, Performance Trampoline with Selfie-Cam, and Trampoline Kids Arena with a foam pit that enables jumpers to perform tricks and land safely. Other activities include Trampoline Arena, Chaser Wall, Roller Slide, Motorized Ninja Course, Power Tower, Freedom Arena, Net Course, and Football Cage Arena.

Covering a 10,000 sq ft, the park is suitable for children from 4 to 14 years old.
