Faculty members and scientists of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) were recently named among the top 2% of the world’s most-cited in terms of career achievement, under a global list compiled by Stanford University.

Four scientists from HBKU’s Qatar Computing Research institute made the list – Founding Executive Director Dr Ahmed Elmagarmid and Principal Scientists Dr Bernard Jansen, Dr Issa Khalil and Dr Preslav Nakov. The four were recognised for their contributions in their respective fields.

QBRI Scientific Director Dr Paul Thornalley was also included in the achievers’ list, along with Senior Scientist Dr Golibjon Berdiyorov of Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute.

Faculty members from the HBKU College of Science and Engineering were honoured in the same category.

The Stanford University team analysed scientists worldwide, combining several metrics to systematically rank the most influential based on scientific field and measured by citations. The prestigious database was published in the PLOS Biology journal.
