Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) proudly joined the global celebration of the ‘Arab Nurses and Midwives Day’ on 3 Nov, to honour the invaluable contributions of nurses and midwives in the healthcare sector. This will continue to be highlighted in the upcoming 3rd Arab Nurses and Midwives Conference 2023 taking place mid-November in Doha.

According to HMC Acting Chief Nursing Officer Mariam Al-Mutawa, the day is decreed by the Arab Board of Ministers of Health in recognition of the immense value and importance of nurses and midwives working in the Arab world, regardless of where they come from or what nationality they carry.

The day serves as a reminder of the tireless efforts, unwavering dedication and profound impact that all nurses and midwives – who work across the Arab world – have on the health and well-being of individuals and society.

HMC extends its deepest appreciation for the role they play in providing compassionate care, promoting health, and improving the well-being of our communities.

The Arab World consists of 22 countries in the Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Bahrain, the Comoros Islands, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

Al-Mutawa said that the special day isn’t just about nurses and midwives finding joy and celebrating their noble professions. The day also serves as a chance to foster unity within the community, connecting not only with fellow healthcare professionals and organisations locally but also establishing bonds with regional colleagues.
