Hotel Park, a family-friendly park located on Corniche Street, in the heart of Doha, participated in the ‘2020 World Environment Day’ 4 June 2020 from 10 am – 11 am.

This year, the World Environment Day is hosted in Colombia, in partnership with Germany, with the theme ‘Celebrate Biodiversity’.

Planned as an illustration of Katara Hospitality’s commitment to social responsibility and the importance of promoting sustainability, Hotel Park, operated by Mawaqif Qatar, organised a planting session, where several trees have been planted on the park. The session was also proposed in live streaming @hotelparkdoha social media platforms to enable the community to participate remotely.

This initiative is also in line with the Qatar vision, to propose more beautification within the country. This event was carried out within the strategy of the State of Qatar to increase green areas in the country, the most important of which is the campaign to ‘plant a million trees’.

The Ministry of Municipality and Environmental represented by the Public Parks Department confirmed its permanent support and encouragement of the private sector to take any initiative that would contribute to increasing the greenery and beautify the surroundings.

Faouzi Boucherit, Hotel Park Manager, said:

Hotel Park is a fantastic green space, where we always promote sustainability as one of our core values, and despite of current coronavirus pandemic, participating in the 2020 World Environment Day is important for us, as well as for Katara Hospitality. We wanted to be part of this day and to contribute to the biodiversity that the State of Qatar is undertaking in different prime projects.’

Amena Tena, Director of Marketing and Communications at Katara Hospitality, said:

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Municipality and Environment for  providing us the trees and for the importance of its contribution in making the success of this event and this green day as a memorable moment.’
