Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, has entered into a partnership with New Horizons Computer Learning Centre in Qatar to offer local communities a range of world-class training courses through the Huawei University and Academy.
The partnership between the two companies was signed by Huawei Qatar CEO Frank Fan and New Horizons GM Seham Hanafi, marking the start of a multi-year collaboration. Senior officials from Huawei Qatar and New Horizons were also present during the signing ceremony.
Students enrolled at New Horizons Computer Learning Centre will now have access to a range of courses from the Huawei University and Academy, earning certifications and qualifications in state-of-the-art IT technology and platforms. The courses – which include advanced IP, IT, Cloud Computing, Switching, Routing, IoT, Big Data, 5G, and Network Security – will teach best practices, promote critical thinking, while developing creativity and innovation – all critical components of realising the vision for an interconnected and digital world.
Frank Fan said that the Huawei University and Academy is their way of contributing to the development of future ICT talents around the globe, enabling to drive the technological innovation that will lead into a more intelligent world.
ICT education is not all about technical capabilities. It is about fostering ongoing collaboration between academia, students and the private sector, supporting the kind of lifelong learning that makes nations more prosperous in a global economy.’
Seham Hanafi said that there is an increasing need to ensure that the workforce of tomorrow is familiar and comfortable with the technologies that will power the smart future Qatar is progressing towards. He said that by partnering with Huawei, they are reinforcing their capability to provide students with top-class training opportunities that align with the breakthrough global technologies that are being adopted in areas of smart city development, the Internet of Things, and more.
Huawei Qatar was among the first technology firms to register 100% ownership in Qatar. In 2018, the company expanded and opened a new office at West Bay in Doha to help drive the development of Qatar’s ICT industry and support economic diversification in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030.
