Karwa Driving School (KDS), the driver-training centre of Mowasalat, is the only driver training centre to be accredited with the highest approval of ‘Diamond Level’ in defensive driving by the UK-based International Association for Driver Education (IVV). The school has also recently obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification for its quality management.

According to Mowasalat, the ISO certification is a result of their continuous efforts to uplift their standards, providing drivers with technical training and road safety education. The ISO certification is a manifestation of the company’s continuous commitment to ensure quality training for all their customers. The certification process was conducted in partnership with the Bureau Veritas Certification where personnel interview and appraisal of departmental procedures were conducted. The appraisal covered driver training operations, fleet management, training material development, handling of customer complaint, finance and driver enrolment process.

KDS was named as a ‘Diamond Training Center’ by IVV after having met all the necessary requirements for accreditation and a number of their driving instructors – for light and heavy vehicles – certified according to Diamond standards. Diamond is the UK’s only government-accredited advanced driver and rider development programme and the diamond level is the highest level given to only one driving school in every country. KDS is the only Diamond Training Center in Qatar.

Constant Upgrade

KDS, which sits in an area of about 42,000 square metres, started in 2004 as a training centre for Mowasalat (Karwa) drivers. In 2007, KDS started offering driving training to the public. It has since constantly upgraded itself with training programmes duly accredited by specialist international organisations.

KDS offers a number of specialised courses for public and private transport drivers focused on dealing with major events and international conferences, in preparation for all types of events hosted and organised by the State of Qatar. This includes the ‘Preparation of Drivers for Large Events‘, accredited by Maybo UK in preparation for the country’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

KDS was the first driver-training centre to be ISO 9001:2008 certified in Qatar. Aside from its latest IVV accreditation, it was also certified and accredited by the City and Guilds UK, and a member of IRU.

KDS offers driving training courses for light and heavy vehicles, Defensive Driving Training, ADR Dangerous Goods Driver Training, Emergency Response Vehicles Training, Four Wheel Vehicle Training, CPC Driver Training and CPC Manager Training. Karwa Driving schools also offers driving training for trucks and heavy equipment such as Mobile Crane, Back Hoe, Excavator, Shovel, Boom truck, Forklift,  Heavy Truck License Training (medium truck and trailer).
