Mandarin Oriental, Doha is set to welcome the two Michelin-starred Chef Wolfgang Becker of Becker’s Restaurant to Liang Restaurant for a culinary collaboration with Chinese Executive Chef Lam to present an exclusive menu featuring a combination of Cantonese dishes and modern haute cuisine as part of the World Class Chefs culinary series, from 2 – 6 November 2021.

BeckerQatar Tourism, in collaboration with Qatar Airways, Qatar Aircraft Catering company (QACC) and Kings of Kitchen, present the World Class Chefs initiative. The two-year long initiative aims to host high-profile chefs from around the world, with the purpose of exploring investment opportunities by introducing the world’s top culinary talent to the emerging hub of gastronomy in the Middle East.

Chef Wolfgang began his culinary career in 1989, the German-native worked as a chef at various Michelin-starred hotel restaurants across Germany such as at the restaurant of Imperial Hotel Bühlerhöhe, the three Michelin star restaurant Schwarzwaldstube in 1994 with renowned Chef Harald Wohlfahrt known as one of the finest chefs in Europe. In 1995, he returned to work at his family’s hotel, Becker’s Hotel & Restaurant, before inheriting the property which he transformed into an award-winning hotel and restaurant.

His eponymous gourmet restaurant, Becker’s, has maintained two Michelin stars since 2009, where Chef Wolfgang is also the chef. With an impeccable eye for detail, Chef Wolfgang is well known for creating dishes that are always clear, authentic and honest with advanced cooking techniques that highlight the flavours of the fresh ingredients used. Achieving numerous accolades for his gastronomy, including a prestigious 18 points, with 20 being the highest by the French restaurant guide Gault & Millau.

To create the most authentic Chinese restaurant, Mandarin Oriental, Doha partnered with Maxim’s Group whom are known for leading the Chinese cuisine scene. Delegated by Maxim’s Caterers Ltd in Hong Kong, Executive Chef Lam of Liang Restaurant masterfully creates each recipe according to Maxim Group’s standards of Chinese cuisine excellence.

Diners can experience Chef Wolfgang’s signature dishes and Chef Lam’s
Cantonese specialities in a 6-course dinner menu at QAR520 per person. Chef Wolfgang presents dishes like seafood soup with scallops, Alaskan king crab and seaweed, and Wild Carabinero Prawn with crustacean oil, chives with various textures of cauliflower. Chef Lam presents Sichuan-style sea bass with wood fungus, capsicums in chili and broad bean sauce.
