It’s only been an hour since we finished our meal at Mosaic Restaurant in Mandarin Oriental, Doha, but if you tell me to go back now for another, I would.

The Master Cuts, Mandarin Oriental, Doha’s newest offering, is a three-course dinner set menu available at Mosaic Restaurant every Sunday from 6 pm to 11 pm.

Filling? Yes.

Satisfying? Definitely.

Mouthwatering? For sure!

When we arrived at the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was the open kitchen. I saw the executive chef preparing our food, and when I took a closer look, he even showed me how all the cooking was done.

The menu consisted of starters like US Prime Beef Tenderloin Maki, Hand-Chopped Beef Tartar, Pan-Seared Duck Liver, and Char Siu Bao.

I’m a fan of starters because, for me, they set the mood for the whole meal experience. The super-thin, melt-in-your-mouth M3 Wagyu beef tenderloin plus the freshly-shaved winter truffle made the Beef Carpaccio my personal favourite among the starters. I also loved the Australian Wagyu Beef Roll because of its perfect smoked flavour.

If you love meat, you will love their set of mains. We were served a generous platter of quality meat – all cooked just how we wanted it – the perfect medium-well. The mains platter had Roasted M3 Wagyu Beef Tenderloin Steak, Slow-Roasted Lamb Leg with Herbs, Braised US Prime Short Rib, and Char-Grilled M5 Wagyu Rib Eye.

Along with the mains came a selection of nicely seasoned sauces and you could also choose one from the sides like Roasted Potatoes with Parsley, Sautéed Green Asparagus and Broccolini, and Homemade Onion Rings, which I liked very much because it was crispy and unlike other onion rings I have tried, even the batter was flavourful.

I know, that already sounds like a lot of food, but that’s not all! We were already so full from all the delicious dishes served to us but the desserts were so appetising – it just seemed wrong not to give them a try.

For dessert, you can choose from Pistacchio Tart, Caramel Vanilla Cheesecake, or Crème Brulee, which was my favourite. It had just the right amount of sweetness and spot-on texture, while the mango passion fruit compôte gave it balance.

The overall experience, from the service to the food, at Mosaic Restaurant was superb. So if the carnivore in you is kicking in, for QAR390 per person, the Master Cuts Set Menu at the Mandarin Oriental, Doha might be a worthy one to try.
