Under the patronage of HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) launched the third edition of Smart City Expo Doha 2023 at the Conference Center of Al-Bidda Park in the Cultural Zone.

This event, attended by esteemed guests and HE Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, serves as a premier platform for exploring urban innovation and fostering sustainable cities. Featuring keynote speeches, expert panels, and interactive sessions, the expo facilitates discussions on critical topics like sustainable urban planning, digital infrastructure, smart mobility solutions, and the transformative impact of technology on citizens’ lives.

In his opening speech, HE Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, stressed the commitment of Smart City Expo Doha 2023 to innovation and sustainable urban development.

We are working to harness the immense potential of technology and data to create smart, inclusive cities that are flexible and capable of meeting the growing needs of our communities.  The expo brings together experts, industry leaders, and policymakers to establish a collaborative working environment where ideas can flourish, partnerships can be formed, and innovative solutions are developed, paving the path for tomorrow’s cities.

The event also included a keynote session by Safder Nazir, Senior Vice President of Public Sector for the Middle East & Central Asia at Huawei Technologies. The session became instrumental in delving into the developmental trajectory of cities, examining the intricate connections between environmental considerations, societal expectations, technological advancements, and key priorities.

Alessio Bagnaresi, the Director of AI & Advanced Analytics at Google Cloud EMEA, also took the lead in a session dedicated to the global deployment of AI solutions in urban settings. Bagnaresi emphasised the noteworthy results stemming from these technological interventions, underscoring the transformative potential that AI holds within urban landscapes.

The third edition of Smart City Expo Doha 2023 witnesses board participation from around the globe, positioning Doha as a hub for smart city innovation. The expo provides opportunities for global partnerships to develop sustainable urban projects.

Building on the success of previous editions, notably Smart City Expo Doha 2022 themed Safe and Smart Cities, the Ministry invites all interested parties to visit to stay updated on the latest developments in the world of smart cities and urban solutions.
