The Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior (MOI), in association with the General Directorate of Passports, is holding a webinar on the procedures for the ‘grace period’ announced earlier by the Ministry to correct the status of expatriates violating the provisions of Law No 21/2015 that regulates the entry, exit and residence of expatriates.

The webinar will be held this Thursday, 3 February, from 12:15 pm to 1:15 pm, via the Cisco Webex meeting app. Representatives of companies are invited to join.

An officer from the Unified Services Department under the General Directorate of Passports will explain the details of the procedures. The ‘correction’ of their status may be arranged through the various service centres of MOI: Umm Salal, Al Rayyan, Mesaimeer, Al Wakra, Umm Senaim, Al Shamal, Al Khor, Al Daayen, Umm Salal, The Pearl, Onaiza, Souq Waqif, Al Rayyan, Umm Senaim, Al Shahaniya, Mesaimeer, Al Wakra and Dukhan.

An officer from the Search and Follow Up Department located in Salwa Road will share details of the services provided for violators within the grace period through the main reception of the Department. All related services are available from 1 pm until 6 pm, Sunday to Thursday.

MOI has extended the grace period until 31 March 2022, in consideration of company owners and expatriate workers to still avail of the 50% reduction in the settlement amount. The Ministry has provided all facilities for violators to correct their legal status while they are inside the country. They can opt to transfer to another, leave the country of their own volition while exempting them from all consequences of legal responsibility.
