Qatar Tourism Chairman and Qatar Airways Group CEO HE Akbar Al Baker ranked No 2 in the Forbes Middle East’s Top 50 Travel and Tourism Leaders. The men and women who made it to the list are considered the most impactful heads of business across hotels and hospitality, aviation and tourism-driven organisations.

The Forbes Middle East issue, available in English and Arabic, featured exclusive interviews with Founder and Chairman of the Emerald Palace Group Nver Mkhitaryan, Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker and UNWTO Regional Director for the Middle East Basmah Al-Mayman.

This is the first ranking of the Middle East’s Top 50 Travel & Tourism Leaders according to Forbes. The UAE dominates, with 24 leaders featured based in the emirates, followed by 11 in Saudi Arabia, and four in Egypt. The hotels and hospitality sector is the most dominant with 26 entries, followed by aviation with 17, and tourism with seven entries.
