The Al Darb Qatarisation Programme of Qatar Airways welcomed 47 new undergraduates into its 2018 Summer Internship Programme. The students were divided in two batches; the first induction ceremony took place in May, followed by the second ceremony which was held at the Oryx Rotana last June.

By joining Qatar Airways, the students have dedicated themselves to excellence and hard work. The programme, which began in 2012, will see undergraduates introduced to the energetic workplace of Qatar Airways, enabling them to gain and enhance various essential career skills and experiences that will aid them in any field that they choose to pursue after graduation.

Qatar Airways Senior Vice President for Human Resources Nabeela Fakhri, said they offer an international work environment for all employees that helps pave the way to a future of possibilities and successes, both within the company, as well as for an individual’s personal development.

She said that the Al Darb Qatarisation Programme offers young nationals a unique and personalised opportunity to become brand ambassadors for the airline as well as for Qatar. Upon completion of the programme, they will be empowered with learnings and experiences that will ensure progress and growth for themselves and for the country.

I am delighted that the students who have joined the Summer Internship Programme bring with them the enthusiasm and motivation to learn and grow in their careers. We look forward to watching them discover their true passion through the various opportunities that we are offering from within our airline.’

Performance Coach

While on the Summer Internship Programme, interns will begin with four days of training to help them learn and develop their office skills – email writing, effective presentation skills and Microsoft Excel workshops – to prepare them to work in a professional environment. Following their induction training, the students will then be paired with a performance coach, who will guide and mentor them along, thus ensuring that each one of them makes the most of their internship experience with Qatar Airways.

This year’s interns will gain experience in several divisions within the airline – Commercial, Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Aeropolitical and Corporate Affairs, Legal and Technical, as well as with the company’s subsidiary – Qatar Airways Cargo.

Interns who participate in the Al Darb Qatarisation Summer Internship Programme are eligible to receive course credits from a number of universities. There are nine local and international universities that will award class credit to students who complete an internship at Qatar Airways. These include Virginia Commonwealth University, Northwestern University, Qatar University, Stenden University, University of Colorado (USA), Arizona State University (USA), University of Utah (USA), University of Huddersfield (UK) and Leeds Beckett University (UK).
