Qatar Airways will host 80 leading trade partners in Qatar next week through its subsidiary destination management company, Discover Qatar, as it promotes Doha and the State of Qatar as an emerging stop-over and holiday destination for the North Asian market-place.

As part of the trip, Discover Qatar and Qatar Tourism Authority will host a trade workshop at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Doha, where a number of Qatar’s principal hoteliers and leisure tourism service providers will meet and interact with the hosted guests.

Established this year to promote the State of Qatar as a leading tourism and business destination, Discover Qatar will host the delegation of trade partners in partnership with a selection of the finest five-star hotels in Doha.

The delegation will have the opportunity to take part in exciting activities like: a desert camping excursion to the Regency Camp; a visit to some of the stadiums which will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ (in partnership with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy); the chance to sample Doha’s culinary and city delights; and visits to tourism sites such as the Katara Cultural Village and the iconic Museum of Islamic Art, in partnership with Qatar Museums.

The tour will ensure that Doha is on top of the list of recommendations from North Asian tour operators for their clients who may wish to travel to Doha directly, or stop-over on the way to one of Qatar Airway’s destinations in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East or Africa.

Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer Ehab Amin, said they look forward to hosting the delegation of North Asian trade partners this week, and to showcase, through Discover Qatar, the many delights that the country has to offer to those looking for a sense of true Arabian culture and hospitality.

Qatar Airways flies to and from ten gateways in Greater China, Japan and South Korea, a total of 130 times per week in both directions, making it easier for passengers to visit Doha on our award-winning airline.’

Qatar Tourism Authority Chief Marketing and Promotion Officer Rashed Al Qurese said that co-hosting this familiarisation trip comes as an important step in the strategy to expand QTA’s presence in key Asian source markets.

After securing approved destination status for Qatar in China, and launching visa-free entry for Chinese and other Asian nationals, we are working with our partners in the travel and tourism industry to raise awareness of Qatar’s offering. We look forward to welcoming this group and providing them with first-hand experiences of Qatar’s renowned hospitality, as well as the tools they need to promote the destination to their clients back home.’

Citizens from China, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea can now enjoy a visa waiver upon arrival in Doha. The waiver will be valid for 30 days from the date of issuance and entitle its holder to spend up to 30 days in Qatar, during either a single trip or on multiple trips. This waiver may be extended for a further 30 days, allowing visitors from these countries ample time to enjoy the best that the State of Qatar has to offer.
