Qatar CSR Summit 2023, hosted by Qatar University under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, concluded with an official gala dinner at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel.

In his speech at the beginning of the ceremony, Qatar National Program for Social Responsibility CEO Dr Saif Al-Hajari, thanked the sponsors and supporters of the conference and exhibition, praising their efforts in the field of social development through the various initiatives and programmes that were reviewed during the event. He said that the Qatar Social Responsibility Awards highlights these efforts to be an example for how to serve society, the environment and people.

According to Haidar Mshaimesh General Manager of IFP Qatar, organiser of Qatar CSR Summit, the Qatar CSR Awards included 20 different categories covering most sectors. The organising committee received nearly 100 initiatives that were nominated by entities in the public and private sectors, all of which were reviewed. Winners were determined by a special jury from the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University, including 20 members of the college faculty.

The Ministry of Municipality won the award for Best Social Responsibility Initiative in the government sector for its rainwater drainage project and the initiative to plant one million trees, while the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Justice received appreciation awards for their overall efforts.

Marhaba Information Guide was also awarded for its initiative under the Media category.

The ceremony concluded with the honouring of Dr Rana Sobh, Dean of the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University, and the head of the Conference Committee. She was honoured for her guidance and supervisory role of the conference.

Mubadara CSR Foundation General Manager Jack Saba said they look forward to the coming year which, hopefully, will witness an increase in the number of national companies participating to contribute to spreading the principles of social responsibility in the Qatari business community.
