The cabinet took a few decisions  to ease some of the restrictions imposed earlier to curb the spread of COVID-19. This was decided in a cabinet meeting held on 3 June 2020, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
These include allowing more people in a vehicle, revising the working hours for private sector employees and relaxing the rules when engaging in outdoor sports/exercise.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Cabinet was briefed by HE the Minister of Public Health on the latest developments with regard to the efforts made to contain the spread of Covid-19. The Cabinet then affirmed the continuation of the precautionary measures taken to combat the pandemic and took a number of decisions.

Following the cabinet decision, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said commercial establishments can operate during the weekdays (Sunday to Thursday) from 7 am to 8 pm.

Masks are not mandatory for exercising and outdoor sports, provided that the activity is performed close to the area of residence and safe distance of not less than three meters is maintained.

The cabinet also increased the maximum number of people allowed in a vehicle from two to four, including the driver, and made an exception for families.

As for people being transported by bus, the Cabinet agreed to continue applying the current decision of ensuring that a maximum of half the vehicle’s capacity is used while taking necessary precautionary measures.

The decision to close retail outlets in malls, popular markets and shopping centres remains valid, with the exception of outlets selling food products and pharmacies. Also, the decision to suspend the activities of health clubs and centres, barbershops and beauty salons – including those that offer home services- remains applicable.

The above decisions are applicable from 4 June 2020.
