Qatar Foundation is hosting the annual Akhlaquna and Akhlaquna Junior awards ceremony on this week, recognising winners of this year’s cycle who exemplify great moral character and have initiated projects that serve the community and beyond.

Two new awards will be given out at this year’s ceremony – the Best Initiative Award and the Role Model Award. These have been added to expand the reach and impact of the programme, recognising individuals who have made noteworthy contributions and serve as inspirational role models in their communities.

An interactive exhibition at Qatar National Library will open this Thursday, 18 May, to showcase the projects and initiatives created by this year’s participants.

Uplifting the community

Akhlaquna Project Manager Ahmed Yousef Al-Malki joined the Akhlaquna team this year because of his belief in the importance of uplifting society. He explained that the initiative aims to highlight Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) universal and inclusive moral values.

I believe that this award honours individuals who are active in society and are capable of offering invaluable contributions to various institutes, like schools or universities.

Al-Malki said he is confident in their ability to develop and grow their initiatives. Their projects possess a distinctiveness that will undoubtedly contribute to raising awareness of moral values within society.

Exhibition, performances, more activities

The exhibition accompanying the event will showcase various ethical initiatives and community contributions in Qatar. The public is invited to visit and immerse themselves in an array of rich performances and meaningful storytelling activities.

Speaking about the new categories introduced this year, Al-Malki said that the Akhlaquna team strives tirelessly to promote awareness of moral values through the award, and they are determined to continue growing the initiative, to implement additional programmes and projects that contribute to society.

The Akhlaquna award was introduced in 2017, by Qatar Foundation Chairperson, HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser to showcase that knowledge and morality are intertwined. The awards are in honour of young people who embody morals, values and ethical behaviours. Akhlaquna Junior is open to children seven to 14 years old.
