HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, led the opening of Al Daayen Naval Base – the new premises of the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security located in the north of the country, this Sunday, 14 July.

The Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior launched a fleet of new marine vessels, which have recently been added to coast guard.

The Al Daayen marine base includes all the advanced marine security requirements to secure the maritime borders of the state and tighten the control and security protection of the country’s coastline. It will also ensure prevention of infiltration into the territorial waters of the state and smuggling of prohibited materials while also controlling any maritime violations.

The naval base is a security monument and a prominent sign of the country’s urban development. Its buildings combine the authenticity of the Qatari heritage with the splendor of modern security design.  It meets the need of the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security for modern buildings, equipped with state-of-the-art maritime capabilities to serve marine security.

The building is located in the Simaisma area directly on the coast in the middle of the country. The distance from Simaisma to the far north is 60 nautical miles and to the far south, 80 nautical miles. This site has been carefully chosen to facilitate security of all territorial waters of the state and border posts.
