In a significant development for Qatar’s cultural tourism sector, Qatar Museums is thrilled to announce that it is now an affiliate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

This historic affiliation was formally introduced during the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly, which took place in Uzbekistan earlier this month.

The membership, he said, reflects their commitment to utilise the tourism scene from a culturally enriching perspective through museum development and cultural heritage activation.

Showcasing Qatari culture to the world

The partnership is a momentous stride towards enhancing Qatar’s cultural tourism. Qatar Museums is proud to play a pivotal role in stimulating tourism in Qatar and showcasing Qatari culture to the world.

The affiliation with UNWTO aligns with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, emphasising the development of a rich collection of museums and cultural landmarks, and the hosting of world-class conventions and exhibitions.

According to Dr Fatema Hassan Al Sulaiti, Director of International Cooperation and Governmental Affairs at Qatar Museums, they are proud to be affiliated with the UNWTO and to promote sustainable tourism.

In line with Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030 and the UNWTO objectives, she said that Qatar Museums is dedicated to acquiring a rich collection of museums and cultural highlights. Their affiliation with the UNWTO mirrors their commitment to contributing to the promotion of cultural tourism and exchange and attracting global audiences to the country.
