Following the cabinet meeting this Wednesday, 31 August, at the Amiri Diwan, Qatar will no longer require residents to use facemasks in closed public spaces, except inside health facilities and public transportation. 

The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani at the Amiri Diwan. The decision further added that all employees and workers whose nature of work requires being in closed places and are directly communicating with customers, should wear masks during their work period.

The decision takes effect this Thursday, 1 September.
