Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) achieved a new world record for the State of Qatar as it enters the Guinness Book of World Records for having the ‘Largest Drinking Water Storage Tank’.

Largest Drinking Water Storage TankAccording to the official entry of the Guinness Book of Records on their official website, Kahramaa’s record-breaking storage tank can store over 436 thousand cubic metres of drinking water. This new record represents another successful achievement for the country.

Achieving this world record reflects the strategic importance of the project as the backbone of water security in Qatar, as it meets the country’s aspirations to raise its strategic water reserve, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Kahramaa launched the water tank project in December 2018, considered a boom in the field of water storage, as it showcases the largest expansion the country has ever seen, with a total capacity of about 1500 million gallons, covering storage needs until 2026.

Kahramaa plans to expand the project in the future, bringing the number of tanks to 40, with capacity of approximately 4000 million gallons, following the country’s requirement for drinking water until 2036.
