Qatar Youth Power is holding its 3rd conference in September, gathering once more secondary and university students that are currently residing in Qatar.

In the summer of 2021, Qatar Youth Power held their first ever conference online, participated by over 1200 students. The event also brought together notable local personalities and guests from the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), THIMUN Qatar, DEAP Qatar, Doha Women Forum, and Qatar Foundation.

The following year, the QYP Conference took place in-person at the Qatar National Library. This event involved 12 guest speakers and over 100 attendees, plus more partners and sponsors.

Natalie Magness, who was only 17 years old when the initiative started, said her main inspiration for the idea stemmed from her appreciation for the country that gave her so much – quality education, piano studies at Qatar Music Academy – and the desire to create something that would empower others to make a positive impact in the community.

Currently a student at University College London, she said that QYP is the first and only fully student-initiated and led conference in Qatar to develop, empower and connect the local youth through learning from the nation’s brightest leaders and change makers.

In addition to their annual conference, QYP also hosted other events and programmes such as the World Youth Skills Day and the International Youth Day events, held at the Hilton Hotel Doha in 2021.

Aanya Srivastava, a high school senior at Park House English School and a lead director at QYP, said that her favourite part about QYP is seeing young individuals motivated and inspired to make a difference within their community.

When asked what she thinks makes the QYP team so special, Rebecca Magness, a student at Doha British School and also a lead director for QYP, said they have a strong connection and chemistry with each other, allowing them to easily work together and communicate.

Open to secondary and university students residing in Qatar (at least 12 to 21 years old), the conference will be held at the special events area of the Qatar National Library on 9 September, 10 am to 4:30 pm. Participation is free of charge.
