Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) unveiled the full programme of events for Qatar Sustainability Week 2018 which will take place from 27 October to 3 November, at different locations around Qatar. QGBC is a member of Qatar Foundation.
Now in its third year, Qatar Sustainability Week is an annual initiative that aims to encourage people and organisations to act more ‘sustainably’. Through a programme of informative, fun, and interactive events, it serves as a platform to promote Qatar’s sustainability vision.
QGBC Director Engineer Meshal Al Shamari said that as a pioneer in conducting environmentally sustainable practices for green building design and development in Qatar, QGBC is looking forward to Qatar Sustainability Week this year. He said that there are many ‘fantastic’ events taking place that promote the nation’s environmental protection and sustainability goals.
Qatar Sustainability Week 2018 will kick off with Qatar Green Building Conference on 28-30 October at Sheraton Grand Doha Resort and Convention Hotel. It will address major sustainability solutions and their impact on driving a more resilient environment for Qatar, the Gulf region, and beyond.
A ceremony for Qatar Sustainability Awards 2018 will take place on 28 October, when 27 local organisations will each receive a coveted award under different categories, in recognition of their efforts in furthering sustainable development and environmental protection in Qatar.
A diverse selection of activities will also take place throughout the week, organised by various groups and local companies taking part in promoting sustainability. Some of these activities include an art installation using recycled clothes in ‘Upcycling Fashion’ at the Doha Fire Station and ‘Plogging’ where participants can pick up litters while jogging, organised by the Global Shapers Doha Hub.
