Qatar Chamber (QC) announced that the QNB Group is supporting the ‘Conference on Development of Public-Private Partnership’, which will be held on Tuesday, 7 July, under the patronage of the Minister of Commerce and Industry, HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari and QC Chairman HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani.

The conference will be held a few days before the Public-Private Partnership Law comes into force on 11 July 2020.

Qatar Chamber praised the QNB sponsorship to the conference, noting that this emphasised the group’s interest in enhancing partnership between the public and private sectors and underscored QNB’s leading role in providing financial support for projects of the private sectors.

The QNB Group, meanwhile, announced their full support for the conference.

Yousef Ali Darwish, General Manager of QNB Group Communications, underscored the bank’s commitment to providing full support to the conference. He praised the leading role played by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Qatar Chamber in establishing and strengthening laws that support the partnership between the public and private sectors. He said that this cooperation is important to the growth of the Qatari economy.

He also emphasised their confidence in the objectives of the conference, which he said are in line with the their strategy – creating a sound and transparent economic environment, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Dr Thani Bin Ali Al Thani, who also chairs the conference’ organising committee, said that the public-private partnership has become the main drive for business in the world, as governments are interested to engage the private sector in development and in financing infrastructure.

The sheikh also pointed out that holding a conference on the subject represents a considerable opportunity for the private sector to learn about partnership models and international experiences.

The conference will also provide an opportunity for the public sector to introduce its views on partnership and the great prospects open to the private sector for development and growth.

The conference, which will be held remotely, will feature prominent speakers from Qatar and other countries. Discussion will focus on vistas of partnership between the sectors and the opportunities created by the new law.
