Qatar Petroleum (QP) launched a new Code of Conduct during their Ethical Leadership Conference ‘Hawiyyatna’ (Arabic for Our Identity), which was recently held at Qatar National Convention Center. The launch was made by HE Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President/CEO of Qatar Petroleum.

The Code of Conduct is a comprehensive document that defines QP’s shared commitment – the way it conducts business and the ethical values with which it wants to be identified.

The document, titled ‘Shaping Who We Are’, will act as a new supportive element in QP’s drive to realise its vision of becoming one of the best national oil and gas companies in the world.

Minister Al Kaabi highlighted key QP achievements that took place since their transformation began, with the success of its 2014 reorganisation and optimisation programme. He also provided an overview of QP’s ambitious business strategy, which has driven its international expansion in various parts of the globe.

The launch of our Code of Conduct will ensure connecting all our success stories together by a matrix of ethical practices that will ensure Qatar Petroleum measure up against the best in our business.

He said that this important next step sets out the rules that will guide behaviour – the principles that establish culture – and the beliefs that are shared with the world and against which the world will judge their actions.

It defines our shared commitment, the way we work together and with others, and the expectations we have of each and every one of our employees.’

Al Kaabi said there is no doubt that having a business culture focused on ethical conduct is critical to QP’s success. By adopting and launching this code, QP is creating the foundations of a corporate culture of ethical behaviour that will certainly define them as an organisation.

The new Qatar Petroleum Code of Conduct, which was developed according to international best practices, is an inclusive and principles-based document. It outlines expectations and describes a set of consistent behaviours for QP and all those who do business with them.
