The Qur’anic Botanic Garden (QBG), a member of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) affiliated with the Qatar Foundation (QF), has obtained notable global accreditation in the conservation of plant resources from the Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI).

The QBG becomes the first of its kind to obtain this accreditation in Qatar and the second in the Middle East.
BGCI’s certificate is an international recognition of the efforts made in preserving plant resources, which enhances QBG’s position on the global scene as a pioneer in this field.

This accreditation also reflects QBG’s adherence to internationally recognised standards for the conservation of plant resources.

QBG Director Fatima Al Khulaifi expressed her pride in this achievement, stating that obtaining the accreditation certificate from the BGCI reflects a deep commitment to international conservation standards and continuous efforts to preserve plant resources.

Al Khulaifi said that this appreciation is not only evidence of the exceptional quality of QBG’s technical and educational programs but is also an affirmation of the Garden’s pioneering role in enhancing knowledge and awareness of the importance of the natural environment and biological diversity.

The QBG is committed to continuing this path to achieve its vision towards reaching a global pioneering position in preserving plants mentioned in the Holy Qur’an and the Hadith, in addition to fungal plants in Qatar, she said.
