If you love to visit West Bay, you’re likely familiar with the stunning five-star beach hotel that boasts an ancient architecture and a magnificent landscape – The St. Regis Doha. This scenic hotel is also a home to diverse restaurant destinations that offer every guest a remarkable culinary experience, including their Indian restaurant – Rivaaj.

Rivaaj Restaurant is an excellent place to visit if you’re looking for a night-out dinner either with family or friends. The venue is adorned with traditional artworks and patterns that solely reflect the cultural heritage of India and the soft lighting contributes to the warm and cosy atmosphere that adds to the overall ambience of the restaurant. Not only that, but the live entertainment will also catch every guest’s attention as the singer transports diners to another place and time – creating an authentic Indian ambience.

Upon arrival, we were promptly welcomed and shown to our table. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating as they offered us a drink shortly after we settled in.

The Thursday Night Brunch offers a family-style sharing menu that is served on the table, and guests can enjoy as much as they want. Their menu has a diverse variety – they’ve got seafood, poultry, lamb, greens, and they serve palate twisters from time to time!

Our dining experience began with their starters, featuring a leafy salad bowl and masala papad accompanied by peanuts and chutneys. Masala papad is a delightful appetiser widely renowned in India, served either as a starter or as an accompaniment to meals. Its crunchy texture and spicy kick, paired with nuts, make it an exceptional appetiser that tantalises our taste buds, preparing us to enjoy their main courses.

Alongside the salad and masala papad, they also served tiger prawns, hamour tikka, tandoori lobster and chicken, jungle makhan roast, lamb chops, and Kashmiri seekh kebab. Overwhelmed by the array of dishes in front of us, we savoured and tasted each one. Our top picks were the tandoori lobster, which boasted a rich taste with a blend of buttery and limey flavours, and the tandoori chicken, which featured a creamy, chilli-mustard-yogurt sauce and was perfectly tender.

Shortly after enjoying their wide selection of starters, they offered us poori shots as a palate twister before delving into the main courses.

The classic Ambassari butter chicken, alongside the prawns and spotted grouper, was served with buttered naan – and the combination? Exceptional! The naan complemented the main dishes ideally, and they are best enjoyed together, as they balance each other’s flavours. A biryani pot with lamb shanks was also served and savouring all the main dishes while enjoying our Berrytini and Lychee Garden drinks was a delightful pairing.

As the dining experience unfolded, we were presented with a sorbet as a palate cleanser, served alongside their desserts. The sorbet features a refreshing lime flavour and serves as a great palate cleanser after indulging in rich and savoury dishes. For dessert, we were treated to kullad chai and kulfi and jamuns. The kulfi and jamuns is Rivaaj’s signature house-made ice cream, and to be honest – it is one of the best among all that they have served!

If you’re looking to unwind on a Thursday night with great food and a pleasant atmosphere, Rivaaj is an ideal destination. With its family-style sharing menu, you can enjoy a delightful evening with your loved ones, accompanied by live entertainment and authentic heritage Indian cuisine.
