Marhaba Information Guide has recently been recognised for successfully reflecting the outstanding delivery of the first FIFA World Cup  Qatar 2022™ in the Middle East and the Arab world by the Supreme Committee for Delivery &  Legacy  (SC).

SC successfully built stadiums and other infrastructure and ensured the tournament and its preparations contributed to Qatar’s sustainable development. From the stadiums where football history was made to infrastructure, accommodation and transport, SC and their stakeholders made sure that Qatar was ready to welcome the world for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. Hosting the tournament already created a legacy – through infrastructure, education, football for development, and support for regional innovation.

Founder and managing editor of Marhaba, Hilary Bainbridge said:

Marhaba was honoured to be involved in this historic event. As a resident of Qatar for nearly 40 years, I have seen the remarkable development of the country. To bear witness to the successful hosting of a world class tournament was a proud moment for us all, and we wish Qatar all the best in its future endeavours.

Special FIFA platform

Prior to the beginning of the FIFA World Cup  Qatar 2022™, Marhaba launched an online platform in August 2022, covering all things FIFA World Cup for visitors and residents in Qatar. The special page provided information on match schedules, state-of-the-art stadiums, recommendations on where to stay, brunches, events and activations, and much more. As a result, Marhaba was one of the most visited websites during the World Cup 2022.

The Marhaba team worked tirelessly, working around the clock, attending press conferences, media events and most – if not all – the World Cup 2022 events to provide readers with the most helpful, informative and comprehensive guide to the historic tournament.

In addition, Marhaba ran a special section on the FIFA World Cup  Qatar 2022™ in two of its issues (M84 and M85) in 2022, with more than 30 pages dedicated to football in Qatar, covering everything from state-of-the-art stadiums, green building practices, a far-reaching volunteer programme and incredible innovative technology that guaranteed Qatar delivered the best and most sustainable football competition.

Marhaba has been actively supporting Qatar’s vision to host the first World Cup in the Arab world since its successful bid in 2010, using its platform to promote the vision and running a public awareness campaign about the historic event.
