Walking into The Square at InterContinental Doha The City on a Thursday night feels like diving into a sea of delicious options. Seafood Night at this classy spot is a seafood lover’s dream and the perfect start to a fantastic weekend.

The first thing I noticed upon entering the restaurant was the impressive, wide spread of dishes on offer. There was such a lot that I didn’t even know where to begin. But let’s start with a bang – the oysters and cold cuts bar. All so fresh, it’s like dipping your tongue in the heart of the sea. There were also tasty sushi rolls and fine cuts of salmon and tuna sashimi.

The salad station offers unique seafood surprises. The Octopus Salad, Shrimp Fattoush, and Shrimp Coleslaw redefine what salads can be, adding a fresh and exciting twist. If you like doing things your way, the salad bar lets you create your own salad masterpiece.

The aroma of freshly baked bread welcomes you to the next station, accompanied by two comforting kinds of soup: the rich Potato and Shrimp Veloutte and the zesty Seafood Tom Yum.

Another exciting (and perhaps my favourite) highlight of the night is the ‘deep fried’ station! The calamari, anchovies, shrimps, and fish and chips were all so crunchy – it’s like playing sound effects with every bite!

Now, let’s dive into the main courses. Picture this: Seafood Pumpkin Mac and Cheese, a comforting blend of creamy goodness and oceanic flavours. The Fish Sayadieh, a Middle Eastern journey of spices and perfectly cooked fish. Then there’s the Salmon Coulibiac, a culinary masterpiece with flaky pastry hugging succulent salmon.

For those craving richness, the Seafood Thermidore steals the show, wrapping various seafood in a decadent sauce. And of course, the grand finale – Seafood Paella, a vibrant mix of rice, saffron, and loads of seafood that brings the taste of Spain to your plate.

For those who prefer a personalised touch, the ‘fresh catch’ station allows you to pick your favourite fish, cooked to perfection – be it hammour, snapper, or mullet. The chefs will cook it up just right, making sure it’s exactly how you like it.

As the night winds down, get ready for a sweet treat at the dessert station. There’s a bit of everything – cakes, pies, churros, Umm Ali, and fresh fruits. It’s the perfect way to end your seafood feast on a sugary high note.

If you’re a seafood afficionado, The Square should be on your list of ‘places not to miss’. From the briny oysters to the flavourful main courses and the sweet finale of desserts, seafood nights will never be the same.
