The Security Committee for National Day Celebrations held a press conference to announce the security plan for the National Day parade and activities at the Doha Corniche, to make public the regulatory procedures to be followed during the festivities.

Head of Security Committee Brigadier Dr Ali Khujaim Al Adbi, said that only a limited number of participants will be allowed to witness the parade this year, through special invitations in compliance with the exceptional precautionary measures to ensure the safety of everyone. Citizens and residents can watch the national parade and the festive moments on television.

Entry to the parade grounds will be for invitees only and limited to one permit per person. The attendees must show their Green Ehteraz status when entering, and adhere to precautionary measures and physical distancing. They must also stay in their seats until the end of the ceremony.

The guidelines also advised the invited spectators to avoid smoking in the stands or chant and should adhere to the designated paths and parking spaces as specified in the invitation cards. Attendees will also be measured their body temperature, wear face mask, maintain safe distance, and use hand sanitiser.

The parade will start from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and will cover the entire Corniche until the Sheraton Hotel intersection and then towards the direction of Al Fardan Tower and then to Al Barzan Tower. From there, it will head to the Theatre intersection, then to the Wadi Al Sail Fire Station intersection, and after which it will head to the Al Mannai underpass, then to the Souq Waqif signal, to the Amiri Diwan intersection in the direction of Fanar, then to Qatar National Bank signals and to the General Secretariat again.

The waterfront from the Corniche will be completely closed and the public will not be allowed to enter. Entry is only permitted for those invited to attend, and each invitee will be given a card for car parks and seats in the galleries. The invitation card also includes a barcode that determines the direction of the car’s path to the parking. Qatar Red Crescent teams will be present at the gate entrances to ensure the compliance of the attendees with health requirements.

The Organising Committee has allocated seats for the invitees in two southern and northern platforms to the right and left of the main podium. The total number of seats is 2,569 for invitees only.

Brigadier Dr Ali Al Athbi added that the Metro stations will be opened at 2 pm, after the activities are over. The fireworks will also be set off at the Doha Corniche at 8:30 pm.

He called on the public to follow health requirements and all mandatory precautionary measures. There will be medical units on the Corniche to deal with any emergency situations in addition to the presence of civil defence teams.
