Pan Asian restaurant Shanghai Me is hosting a unique art exhibition featuring the paintings and sculptures of renowned Qatari artist Ali Al Naama.

Running until 27 June, the exhibition invites art enthusiasts and the public to dine at Shanghai Me while enjoying Al Naama’s masterpieces.

With his work on display in prestigious galleries worldwide, Al Naama draws inspiration from the feeling of freedom and liberation from the open sky. His art showcases the Arabian falcon, expressing his genuine admiration for birds. Birds are revered in Chinese culture and folklore, with each bird carrying its own unique symbolism.

Opening event

Shanghai Me recently held a VIP opening for the exhibition, attended by representatives from a number of institutions in Qatar such as Qatar Museums, Fire Station, Ashghal, as well as members of the local media.

A highlight of the evening was the engaging Q&A session with Al Naama, where guests gained deeper understanding of his creative process, inspirations and the stories behind his artworks, shedding light on his artistic vision and the journey that shaped his creations.

Al Naama Egg dessertAccompanied by delightful hors d’oeuvres and signature drinks from Shanghai Me, guests enjoyed an elevated networking experience which was concluded with a delightful surprise – a dessert collaboration between Shanghai Me and Al Naama.

The dessert was a 90-cm-tall chocolate recreation of Al Naama’s sculpture Birth of a Legacy, which exemplified the creative synergy between the art and the culinary world. A guest was invited to break the chocolate egg, with all attendees able to take a piece of the chocolate art home with them.

Al Naama said that as a Qatari artist, he is proud to showcase his work to the local community.

Shanghai Me’s Director of Operations Hadi Aknin also expressed their appreciation of their collaboration with Al Naama, for his inspiring artworks. He said they look forward to more collaborations that will serve as a bridge to connect their brand with the arti scene in Qatar.
