Located in a relatively quiet and leafy suburb of Doha, alongside the green spaces of Aspire Park, Maysan Doha, LXR Hotels & Resorts combines the romanticism and mystique of a Middle Eastern prince’s palace transformed into a most luxurious hospitable abode with a warm and welcoming boutique ambience.

La Casa is a magnificent room, large enough for business gatherings or family celebrations, but also generating a warm atmosphere suitable for a tête-å-tête or intimate dinner among a few friends. Come with your best friend, your family or the whole company, they’ll all be equally impressed.

The menu is inviting and tempting with a wide choice of starters and salads. But first we were treated to an amuse-bouche of olive paste and accompaniments of olives, parmesan cheese and freshly baked bread rolls and sticks.

Before the starters, we were treated to the sight of a most tempting trolley being wheeled in front of our expectant eyes. Indeed, these beautifully presented prime cuts of rib eye and tenderloin beef, veal, lamb, baby lamb and brisket beef chosen for our main course lingered on in our mind’s eye even as we enjoyed the ouverture starters.

There is no particular geographic area promoted here; rather the emphasis is on diversity and the quality of the individual dish. There are items from the Far East, the Middle East, and South America. It mirrors somewhat the successful Qatar Airways, bringing the best from around the world to our hub here in Doha.

Hummus, well known to us in Qatar and indeed all around the Middle East and now the world, never tasted so good as when here paired with some real truffles. Each one of the half-dozen starters was uniquely tasty. I particularly went for the Shitake Mushrooms with Beef – creamy and delicious; others loved the freshness of the Asparagus Ceviche, and nobody turned down the wonderful Wagyu Beef Rolls.

There are house, as well as special, drinks on offer, matching whatever your mood and choice of main dish.

On reaching the main course, the Baby Lamb Tenderloin was indeed young and tender and the consensus was that all the steaks and meats fully met expectations. These people certainly know how to prepare a joint, and especially when paired with your favourite sauce and choice of vegetables.

Dining at La Casa is in the top rank for experiences around Doha. With its diversified menu, live entertainment (did I mention the saxophonist?!) and friendly atmosphere, La Casa at Maysan Doha is hard to beat.
