Sustainability and leadership are key themes in the Ramadan 2023 ‘Goals4Good’ campaign

The Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and partners are organising a Ramadan Goals 4 Good tournament featuring football and art competitions to support selected EAA Foundation projects to help the world’s most vulnerable and marginalised children.

Thirty-six schools in Qatar will participate in the tournament as a part of the ‘Goals 4 Good’ Ramadan 2023 campaign on 10 March.

Goals 4 Good

The event will take place at Doha College, starting at 12 pm, Doha time, and is expected to last until 8 pm. Each of the football matches during the day will culminate in a quarter, semi-final and final tournament.

The schools will compete in three age categories in football – 10 to 12, 13 to 15 and 16 to 18 years old – for both boys and girls. Teams will be divided into groups and the ultimate winner in each group will play in knockoff stages until they reach the final. The winning team will receive a trophy and certificates of appreciation, as well as medals and prizes for Best Player, Best Goal and Best Goalkeeper.

The art competition will follow the theme, The Classroom of Tomorrow. Winners of the art competition will be announced on 10 March. Those who want to take part can use any form of artwork. The entries will be judged primarily on how well the theme is expressed, as well as colour, neatness and creativity. The competitors will be divided into two categories (Juniors, from nine to 13 years old) and (Seniors, from 14 to 18 years old). Schools have to submit the artwork for entry into the competition by 28 February.

There will also be a showcase section for children with different abilities and several motivational speeches.

The event will also have a fun aspect of Carnival Small games for the whole family.

The event is in line with EAA’s commitment to its sustainability objectives – quality education for all (SDG4), good health and well-being (SDG3) and partnerships for the goals (SDG17). There will also be a strong emphasis on developing future leaders of Qatar’s student community.

The Goals 4 Good tournament encourages students from all walks of life to meet on the ground of a shared passion for football. It’s been documented that sport – a recognised essential contributor to the achievement of development and peace goals – promotes tolerance and respect. It also empowers women, young people and communities and has a strong positive impact on health, education and social inclusion.

Sponsorship opportunities

Private corporations are invited to sponsor in various categories starting from QAR5000 to QAR100,000 to advertise their organisation during the event while supporting education for the marginalised and impoverished children and promoting good health and leadership among students in Qatar.

One hundred per cent of all sponsorship funds will be used for education projects. Private corporations can sponsor a school team and will be given an exclusive branded sponsor kit by EAA. Football fans can buy tickets on the EAA website, educationaboveall.org. Proceeds from ticket sales will help fund EAA projects.

Supporting children around the world

The Goals 4 Good Ramadan 2023 Campaign will continue to support EAA projects across the world, particularly supporting children in Myanmar, Zanzibar, Somalia, Sudan, Mali, Cambodia’s Together Project, the Assalam Schools in Qatar, the ROTA Program Project Youth Volunteers for Training and Development and the Al Fakhoora Access to higher education in Gaza.

These projects assist marginalised and impoverished children with opportunities and hope for a better future, which intends to provide and increase access to educational facilities and resources and improve the quality of education.
