GET THE POPCORN FOR THIS:

Dog Gone
Netflix, 13 January

If you are looking for a heartfelt watch instead, this new Netflix film should be in your list. There’s something about movies with dogs that immediately pulls us in, right? Dog Gone, which is based on a true story, follows a father and son on their journey to find their beloved dog after it went missing somewhere on the Appalachian trail. But this is more than a search for the missing dog, though. It also focuses on the journey of the father and son to repair their fractured relationship. The movie stars Emmy nominee Rob Lowe, Johnny Berchtold, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and Nick Peine.

The Last of Us
HBO and HBO Max, 15 January

Also landing on Netflix this weekend is The Last of Us which is based on the critically-acclaimed 2013 video game of the same name which is considered to be one of the best video games of the past decade. Set in a desolate and post-apocalyptic version of the US being overrun by cannibalistic creatures, the adaptation centres on Joel (Pedro Pascal, Game of Thrones/Narcos) as he smuggle teenage Ellie (Bella Ramsey, Game of Thrones) out of the quarantine zone. The series was co-developed by Chernobyl‘s Craig Mazin and the game’s creative director Neil Druckmann.

SETTLE IN WITH A CUP OF TEA AND READ THIS:

Spare
Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex

Prince Harry Duke of Sussex has lived a life staged in the public eye, and who he really is has been the subject of speculation and rumour. But no more. Spare is told from Prince Harry’s perspective – finally revealing the truth behind the conjecture.

This memoir spans Price Harry’s life, since the death of his mother, to his life in the army, to his time as a husband and father – and even delves in to the reasons why he left England. Over the centuries, not many royals have left the Royal Family and the last to try, in fact, had been his mother.

For the first time, Prince Harry tells his own story, detailing his journey with raw, unflinching honesty. Spare is full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.
