In celebration of International Women’s Day, W Doha announces another WHAT SHE SAID panel discussion with some of the nation’s most successful women in the art industry. The WHAT SHE SAID panel ‘Art: Truth, Tales and Triumphs’ features four Qatari women who will share their wonderful journeys and what it takes to be an artist or filmmaker in the Middle East today.

The inspiring panel of speakers includes Bouthayna Al Muftah, a visual artist whose work has appeared in Mathaf, Amal Al Muftah a filmmaker whose film ‘Smicha’ was screened at Cannes Film Festival in 2017 as part of the ‘Made in Qatar’ Series. Another panellist is Hend Fakhroo a writer and director who is best known for her first short film, HIS NAME (2012) which was screened at the Festival de Cannes, the Doha Tribeca Film Festival, and the River Film Festival. Additionally, Abeer Al Kuwari will attend, an artist who emerged in the field of photography and the first member of Qatar’s Women Photography Association. The panel discussion will be moderated by Boutaïna Azzabi Ezzaouia, the Senior Engagement Producer and Facebook Lead at Al Jazeera English.

The event is set to take place on Wednesday, the 13 March at 7 pm in The Great Room at the W Doha Hotel. The four speakers will provide guests with an inside look into their lives, how they overcame both personal and professional obstacles and their advice for other women; creating a dialogue that will inspire and motivate women of all ages to never be afraid to chase their dreams.

Following the panel, guests will then be invited to join Bouthayna Al Muftah as she leads an interactive and hands-on art activity through Origami and it’s historical significance.

What She Said Event

W Doha wants to blow women away with thrilling activities where they can get together to inspire and motivate one another now and for the long-term. Women continue to be an integral part of the art industry and have left their marks wherever they go, and this is one more conversation that proves nothing is impossible – a conversation not to be missed!

Wassim Daaje, the General Manager at W Doha, said:

We are very excited to host a third WHAT SHE SAID conversation for the women of Doha. Due to the extremely high turn out from the previous two panels, we knew that we had to host another panel discussion sooner than later. I am confident that the ladies of Doha are dedicated and hardworking, so we wanted to create a platform for them where they can exchange advice and motivate each other to grow beyond their expectations.’

The event is open to women only and limited spots are available. To join the conversation and reserve your spot, please email [email protected].
