Winning concept will be developed into large-scale installation within the WISH 2018 ‘Innovation Hub’

The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), an initiative of Qatar Foundation (QF), is inviting local artists to devise a large-scale centerpiece for the main exhibition hall – the ‘Innovation Hub’ – at its next global summit, taking place at Qatar National Convention Centre on 13-14 November.

This year’s summit, WISH 2018, will feature a wide range of healthcare-related talks and panel discussions, as well as an opportunity for healthcare innovators from Qatar and around the world to showcase their ideas and products within the Innovation Hub.

Artists based in Qatar are invited to submit concepts that demonstrate creativity and highlight the healthcare focus of WISH. WISH 2018 organisers will develop the chosen winning idea into a large-scale installation that will be prominently placed within the Innovation Hub to make it visible throughout the event.

The final structure can be made of wood or metal, painted or covered in fabric. It should at least be four metres high, with a diameter of three meters, and can be free-standing or suspended from the ceiling. Other elements, such as TV screens or LED lights, can be incorporated in the structure.

Artists wishing to enter the competition can either provide a drawing of their concept or create a small model. There are three suggested themes for the centerpiece – globe of the world; the concept of ‘One Community’; and the structure of DNA. WISH 2018 organisers are however open to considering submissions based on other health-related ideas.

According to Aljawhra Al Mana, Communications Officer at WISH, they want to engage the local community, which is why they are keen to hear from people who are interested in providing a concept for the centerpiece of the Innovation Hub.

The inspirational piece of art or installation should provide a fitting focus for a room that is at the heart of our global summit of healthcare leaders.

The closing date for entries is  on 2 September. More details – including artist’s impressions of the Innovation Hub – can be found through this link.

The November summit will be the fourth edition of WISH, and is expected to attract around 2,000 delegates from more than 100 countries, including more than 30 health ministers. Delegates are set the challenge of working together as one community to use innovation to overcome some of the world’s most urgent healthcare issues.
