The Fire Station: Artist in Residence together with the Painting and Printmaking Department at VCUarts Qatar are jointly hosting a virtual lecture series titled ‘Decolonizing Art Narratives: Arab Women Artists Today’ where 14 women artists will come together to explore gender, politics, colonialism, culture, and identity.

The year-long academic lecture series will feature a dynamic group of female Arab artists and practitioners across various disciplines and locales in the Middle East who will revisit and consider how best to reshape existing narratives.

According to Fire Station Director Khalifa Al Obaidly, they are honoured to partner with VCUarts Qatar to present the lecture series. The series provides a platform for some of the region’s most inspirational female artists to collectively discuss what it means to be an artist in the context of modern societal norms and challenges.
