A group exhibition that celebrates the work of twenty nine contemporary artists from Doha

Wusum Gallery launched its contemporary art space in Doha. Dedicated to showcasing the talents of early, mid-career, and established artists from Qatar and the region, Wusum Gallery seeks to nurture artistic excellence and celebrate the diverse contributions of artists who have paved the way for the regional art scene to flourish.

Founded by Wadha Al-Aqeedi and Tariq Al Jaidah, Wusum Gallery is conceived to provide a vibrant environment for art enthusiasts, collectors, and artists alike.

Wusum Gallery debuted with its inaugural exhibition, Revolving Rooms, which celebrates the individual voices and artistic expressions of twenty nine contemporary artists from Doha.

The selection of artists include Abdulaziz Yousef, Abeer A., Aisha Al-Abdulla, Dr AlKhuzama AlHarami, Alya Al-Khalifa, Ameni Abida, Amna AlBaker, Anfal Al Kandari, Aya Battiri, Farah Al Sidiky, Fatima Mohammed, Fatma Al-Remaihi, Ghada Al-Mawlawi, Hala Aljaafari, Hamad AlFayhani, Hana Al-Saadi, Hassan Manasrah, Hayyan Monawar, Hissa AlKuwari, Lulu M, Mohammed AlEmadi, Mubrak Al-Thani, Noof Al-Naama, Noor Al Thani, Noora Al Hardan, Tami, Tiflah Al-Naimi, Yousef Bahzad, and Zainab AlShibani.

The title of the exhibition, رّمداَ ال دار (Revolving Rooms), reflects the curatorial ethos of Wusum Gallery’s inaugural exhibition. ‘دار, ‘meaning room in Arabic, represents the unique spaces that artists are given and inhabit to create their work. These rooms symbolise the importance of providing not only physical spaces, but also psychological, to cultivate personal freedom, creativity, and self-discovery within artistic practices. ‘رّمداَ ال, ‘ meaning revolving, represents the movement that mirrors one’s experience of evolving. Much like celestial bodies that orbit, artists move through realms of inspiration, imagination, and introspection, forging new paths and narratives within their creative practice.

With an emphasis on the transitive nature of creation and the cosmic parallels, the inaugural group exhibition Revolving Rooms paves the way for a new spatial orbit within the newly established Wusum Gallery.
