The Department of Colorectal Surgery at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is hosting the 7th Qatar Colorectal and Gastroenterology Conference this weekend, from 18 to 20 May at the HMC Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Center and at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Doha.

The conference is part of the continuing effort to improve the quality of healthcare services in the country, promote knowledge-sharing among medical professionals and provide clinicians with the latest updates on the treatment of colorectal and gastroenterology conditions.

The conference also aims to highlight the latest medical and technological developments in the field. About 300 participants from Qatar and from other countries in the region are expected to join, in addition to several international expert speakers.

Colorectal cancers and other bowel diseases

According to Dr Mohammed Abunada, chairman of the conference organising committee, the conference will discuss the latest developments in the diagnosis, treatment and surgical treatment of colorectal and gastrointestinal diseases. It will include lectures delivered by 34 speakers, including 16 speakers from HMC. It will also address topics focused on colorectal cancers to inflammatory bowel diseases and other gastrointestinal disorders.

Students from Qatar University and Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar will be invited so that they too can learn from the conference topics. This year’s edition will also witness a live broadcast of surgeries from HMC’s main operating theatre to enable participants to observe the details of surgeries performed by using endoscopy and surgical robots.

The 7th Qatar Colorectal and Gastroenterology Conference is a valuable opportunity to share expertise and learn about the medical and technological advances related to colorectal and tumour surgeries from experts and healthcare professionals.
